A unique course dedicated to the mbira dzaVaNdau challenges students with constructing and playing this instrument originating from Zimbabwe.

This semester, the College’s student newspaper and radio station have collaborated to launch a new project called Scarlet Sessions. Scarlet Sessions will serve as an opportunity for student musicians to have their music professionally recorded and released on The Scarlet and Black’s social media. 

The 91���� Singers performed a concert in the Cave of the Mounds as part of their 2025 spring break tour.

The band Butcher Brown will perform a concert in Herrick Chapel on the 91���� campus at 7:30 p.m. on March 27.

The 91���� Singers will present their program, The Light is the Same, in a spring tour to six cities across the Midwest from March 9–14.

Indian-American composer Reena Esmail will present “Composing Between Cultures: My Work between Hindustani and Western Classical Traditions” on Nov. 19.

The 91���� Singers will present their fall concert titled “Songs of Earth” on Sunday, November 10, at 2 p.m. in Sebring-Lewis Hall.

Interested students can now schedule a time to audition for the 91���� Singers.

Jadyn Al-Fatah ’27, who sings bass with the 91���� Singers, has created an interpretive dance to accompany Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Caroline Shaw's “To the Hands.”
