I started here at 91´óÉñ in 2024, and previously I was a graduate student in statistics at Iowa State University. This semester I am teaching Intro to Data Science (STA-230) and Applied Statistics (STA-209). Previously I have also taught Intro to Statistics (SST-115).
My primary research interests have been in time series, a domain that analyzes data collected over time and tries to model how current data is correlated with past data, which can then be used for prediction! More specifically, my graduate research looked at ‘long-memory’ time series, where the effects of the past do not die down like they do in standard ‘short-memory’ time series. Long memory models have applications to economic data and some physical phenomena like water turbulence and weather forecasting. Recently I have also become interested in exploratory data analysis and data visualization (making effective statistical graphs and displays).
