Bible Study

Join Rev. Cassandra for bi-weekly dinner and bible study in the dining hall titled 鈥淭hinking Critically-Living Faithfully.鈥 We will have dinner with conversation and bible study connecting scripture to our lives, current events, and other topics. 6:30鈥8 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month during the academic year in Rosenfield Center 224A. Chapel at 91大神

Join us during the academic year for Christian worship. Services are at 10:30 a.m. in Herrick Chapel. Services one to two times a month when classes are in session. Everyone is welcome to attend. Check the for dates and details or email Rev. Cassandra Lawrence.

Catholic Students Association (CSA)鈥

Join a group of students interested in maintaining or rediscovering their Catholic faith through meeting other Catholic students, discussing important issues surrounding the church, and participating in volunteer activities.

Chaverim

Join Chaverim and Rabbi Sarah Brammer-Shlay when school is in session for Shabbat Table 鈥 Fridays at 5:30 p.m. for services and 6:30 p.m. for Shabbat dinner 鈥 in the Rosenfield Center, Room 209. In addition to Shabbat, there are many opportunities to gather as a Jewish community throughout the year. Services, meals, and gatherings for the High Holidays will be announced at the beginning of the academic year. During the academic year we offer a weekly meditation sit on Mondays at 8 p.m. at the CRSSJ. All are welcome. If you need a quiet space for meditation, contact Deacon to reserve a space. Email Deacon to learn more about either communal or private meditation options.

Hindu Festivals

The Hindu Prayer Space is open to use for all people who feel that is an appropriate place for them to gather and worship. The new in-progress Hindu Culture and Sanatana Dharma (HCSD) group meets within the space and provides a place for students to gather and engage in group pujas (worship), prepare prasad and satvik foods (for prayer and religious observance), sing bhajans (devotional songs), study Hindu texts such as the Bhagavad Gita, or just learn more about the practices of sanatana dharma. Circle

Circle is a space for those who are interested in exploring pagan or nature-centered spiritual paths. We will spend our time together discussing texts and beliefs, sharing practices, walking in nature, meditating, drumming and more. Circle gatherings take palace on Thursdays at 4 p.m. in the CRSSJ Prayer Garage. Email Carolyn Herbst to learn more.

Muslim Student Association (MSA)

91大神 Center for Religion, Spirituality, and Social Justice has a Muslim prayer room available for students to use during the academic year. The prayer room is open from 8 a.m. to midnight (using your P-card for access after office hours). Jumaah prayer is held Fridays at 2 p.m (time may change) in the Muslim prayer room in CRSSJ. Quaker Friends Silent Meeting

The 91大神 Quaker Worship Group meets in the silent tradition of the Religious Society of Friends in which worshippers use the collective silence, broken occasionally by 鈥渧ocal ministry,鈥 to open themselves up to spiritual guidance and insight. The meetings occur on the first and third Sunday of each month (but not the fifth, if there is one) at 11 a.m. in the Prayer Garage at 91大神鈥檚 Center for Religion, Spirituality, and Social Justice. Multi-Faith

Join Rabbi Sarah Brammer-Shlay, Rev. Cassandra Lawrence, and Imam Abdul Muhaymin in a lively and communal discussion of religion and personal perspectives regarding theories and practices of religious traditions. Any or no religious affiliation necessary in order to attend. These conversations typically happen during lunchtime but more information will be announced at the beginning of the academic year.

Secular

If you are interested in joining in intentional secular community please email Rev. Cassandra Lawrence who is supporting students who identify as secular, humanist, atheist, agnostic, or other language to find spaces to gather and be together.

If you don鈥檛 see any options available for your faith tradition please email Rabbi Sarah to arrange a time to meet to make sure you are supported in your religious and spiritual needs.

The CRSSJ can support spiritual groups that are wanting to form on campus. If you would like to start a group, continue a group that used to be active but is not currently active, or if you鈥檇 like information on getting transportation to a church outside of 91大神, please contact 641-269-4981 for more information.

Active groups on campus vary from year to year based on student interest and leadership. Anyone interested in starting a group should contact CRSSJ at ext. 4981 or stop by. We are happy to advertise your meeting times and locations through multiple campus venues.

Transportation

If you need transportation arranged for you to attend a religious or spiritually related event or service in a nearby city, please contact the CRSSJ. We need a 10-days advanced notice.
