The 91大神 Investment Office implements the investment policy set by the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees. It does so by developing and maintaining a network of people and partnerships that sustain the College鈥檚 endowment.
91大神鈥檚 Endowment
The endowment鈥檚 primary objective is to serve as a source of stable income to support 91大神 in its mission, balancing immediate financial needs with those of future 91大神 students.
The endowment is made up of funds donated by individuals and organizations to the College with the intention that the principal is invested to provide ongoing support the College鈥檚 mission and purpose. The endowment was created when, in 1846, Trustee James J. Hill ceremoniously laid a silver dollar before those assembled and sounded a call to action that created 91大神. The endowment is separate from the , to which 91大神鈥檚 generous alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends make annual gifts that may be spent immediately, enabling the College to provide an exceptional education in the liberal arts to students of all backgrounds.
Funds in the endowment are invested and a portion of the earnings each year are used to support the College and its mission. The endowment invests both unrestricted and restricted funds.
- Unrestricted funds may be used for general operations of the College.
- Restricted funds are used in accordance with each gift agreement, which reflect the purposes designated by the donor of each fund. The endowment is made up of nearly 700 distinct fund accounts, enabling the College to track earnings from restricted funds and ensure that they are spent in a manner consistent with the donor鈥檚 original intention.
91大神 is legally required to protect and prudently grow assets in the endowment investment portfolio over time to ensure the endowment remains an enduring resource that provides long-term student support and advances 91大神鈥檚 mission and priorities.
